Since July 2007 when the Queensland Learner logbook was introduced, many parents want to take on the first part of teaching their learner how to drive in an effort to save on costs. As the learners have to do 100 hours (more in other states) the task can seem quite a tall order.

It is hard to explain to a student how to use a clutch because as an experienced driver, you just do it. It is hard to teach general observation skills, because you just do it. Many parents don't even think to teach general observation, as it is such a built-in part of their driving, they are not even aware they are doing it...so it never gets passed on.

This is why Brad has written 'The Pocket Driving Instructor'. His book is designed to help parents teach. It gives parents a tool to use to explain what they know, and what they might have forgotten, to their learners in a way that the learner can understand.
